Special ProjectsWhat's New at Sunnyside
Lake Front Walkway
As the snow continues to melt we are beginning to plan for various landscaping projects at Sunnyside, one of which is our lake front walkway. Though the walkway has existed in its place for many years, overgrowth, heaving and finally new construction were cause for its removal this past fall. This spring the walkway will be cut to a consistent width and given a deeper gravel base then finished with asphalt millings.
Coffee on the Sunnyside
This winter, reconstruction began on a building below the retreat centre previously known as ‘The Fort.’ The building has served many purposes over the years, most recently being used for staff accommodation. The building’s new purpose is to be a coffee shop and ice cream parlour, open for the duration of the summer season and serving our cottage/RV owners and retreat centre guests.
Along with a transition in Sunnyside management over the past couple of years has come the implementation of new strategies and the development of different roles and responsibilities. As a result, we are seeking to renovate our office space in order to better serve our guests and more efficiently manage camp and retreat center operations. The project is still in the planning stage. Please check back here for updates.
Over the course of this past year, it has become clear that we are quickly outgrowing our kitchen and more specifically our cooler and freezer space. Earlier this year we were blessed with two large refrigeration units capable of cooling a space more than double our current capacity. At this time we are unsure when the expansion of the kitchen and installation of the new cooler and freezer will take place, but hope to finalize the plans this spring.
